“With the help of Mrs. Hanon and the Pathfinders program, I was able to participate in the Ranney internship program at Monmouth Medical Center. I shadowed doctors in various medical fields and received tutorials of many different hospital tools, including the Da Vinci Robot. This is a complicated machine that doctors use to perform robotic surgery. I had the privilege to work hands on with the machine in a simulated surgery. During the final weeks of the summer, I was selected to be a ball person at the US Open at the National Tennis Center in Queens. As a co-captain of the Flatbush Tennis Team, I was thrilled to actually get to greet top seeded players and be up close to the action as they went through the emotional and physical intensity of the game.”
